What is a peer-reviewed source?

Answer

Peer-review is a rigorous editorial process that involves review by one or more peers or experts in the field and revision before acceptance and publication.

Not all scholarly journals use a peer-review process; therefore, a journal article may be scholarly/academic, but not necessarily peer-reviewed. Typically only research articles follow a peer-review process. Book reviews, editorials, article reviews, or other content published in a peer-reviewed journal do not.
